CIICP - Canada India Institutional Co-operation Project
 

Changing technology, as well as economic reforms in India, has created a need within Business, Industry and the community for a more highly skilled workforce at the shopfloor level. Persons already on the job also need training in new and emerging technologies as well as modern business strategies and production methods. With this perspective in mind, Canada – India Institutional Cooperation Project (CIICP) was launched in 1991 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of India and Canadian government.

CIICP involves Canadian Community Colleges, 12 Polytechnics in Southern India, Technical Teacher's Training Institute (TTTI) Madras and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

 
FOCUS:
CIICP believes that people are the key to quality education and to Sustainable Change. Therefore, it focuses on Human Resource Development with special emphasis on skill enhancement in the following areas:

OUTCOMES:
  • A large number of successful Continuing Education Programmes like Tailoring, Home Appliances Servicing & Wiring , Cell Phone Servicing, Internet and Web Designing, Beautician, Spoken English, Computer Hardware & Servicing, Computer Hardware and Networking Pro, etc., at an affordable fee structure relevant to the needs and satisfaction of the participants.
  • Close linkages and relationships developed between the polytechnics, industry, community and NGOs.
  • Significant revenue generation.
  • Enhanced expectations of industry training from the polytechnics.
  • CIICP provides path for self employment.
